A Biracial teacher finds her true self after connecting with students at an urban school who remind her through their own native dance known as ‘Jitting’ that black culture is an integral part of who she is.
Synopsis
While the City of Detroit is beset by intense urban woes and stereotypes, a group of teens dance out their troubles, sadness and hearts in their own native dance, known as ‘Jitting’. A Sole of Their Own” comes out of a desire to highlight Detroit’s street dance culture, both past and present. Jitting is to Detroiters what popping and funk was to the West Coast, what breaking was to East Coast hip-hop, jookin’ to Memphis, and footwork to Chicago. The key ingredients to successful dance movies in this genre are clear: a something-to-prove hero, urban setting, exposed six-packs, and music to get that head bobbing. A Sole of Their Own beautifully meshes all of these ingredients together. From its thumping ghettotech electronic music to the grit and grim that only the city of Detroit can provide, this film is an unapologetic tale of urban teens finding their own soles – and will surely not disappoint the applause meter. It’s time to resurrect Detroit Jit from the decades of shadows and place it under the world’s spotlight!

When a college professor and mother of one of the boys receives little to no help from local authorities, she seeks out her own answers and justice for her son. What is the most powerful weapon we have against hate? Love.
Synopsis
“BOOM BOOM BYE”: The movie that inspires a movement in humanity. On July 21, 2013, 16-year-old Dwayne Jones attended a dance party in Montego Bay, Jamaica, dressed in women’s clothing. When partygoers at the bar in Irwin, St. James, realized she was biologically male, they subjected her to almost every form of physical violence imaginable—beating, stabbing, and shooting her before running her over with a car. No one helped her during the assault. When police arrived, they found her body dumped in bushes along the main road. Dwayne had been homeless since age 12, rejected by her family because of her gender identity. Her family initially refused to claim her corpse from the morgue. The story of Dwayne Jones lies at one extreme end of a continuum of violence experienced by Jamaicans who identify as lesbian, gay, transgender, or bisexual. Nevertheless, the circumstances of her murder provide a snapshot of the current situation facing many LGBT people in Jamaica: a high risk of violence, vulnerability heightened by poverty and family rejection, and mixed responses from both the authorities and the public. – Human Rights Watch

The answer can only be found in Derek Vitatoe’s feature film, Blue Whale. Blue Whale is Derek Vitatoe's latest provoking tale in which he uses storytelling to educate parents, children and teachers on digital and cyber abuse through social media platforms. He focuses on digital and Internet safety, recognizing the signs of cyber abuse, and the prevention and care for victims of online abuse. Derek Vitatoe’s new film will change how you view online games forever.

Inspired by true events, the story of a young black man who struggles to break the color barrier and pursue his ambition of being a first-class jockey amid the racial hostilities of the late 19th century fighting to keep him down.
Synopsis
Decorating front yards as hitching posts in many Kentucky homes is a statue of a man in jockey clothes holding up one hand as though taking the reins of a horse. The lawn ornament, known as a “lawn jockey” has its roots in the tale of one Jocko Graves, a twelve-year old African American who sought to fight alongside General George Washington at the time that he crossed the Delaware to carry out his surprise attack on the Redcoats. The General thought the boy was too young to take along on such a dangerous attack, so left him behind to tend to the horses and to keep a light on the bank for their return. So the story goes, the boy, faithful to his post and his orders, froze to death on the river bank during the night, the lantern still in his hand. The General was so much moved by the boy's devotion to his duty that he had a statue sculpted and cast of him, holding the lantern, and had it installed at his Mount Vernon estate.
